Where Do We Go From Here

You may be asking yourself, “Where do we go from here?”  I know I am.  What should your travel strategy be? What is most important?  When can you travel and what are the top destinations on your bucket list?  There are so many questions, so much pent-up travel desire.  Yes, I feel it too.

First, what is most important is your health and safety.  There are no things more important than those two.  We know that the hotels, tour companies, airlines, food service companies and the cruise lines are all doing everything possible to make travel safe again.  Fear of the unknown is perhaps the worst fear, and that is what we are dealing with.   We will soon have the answers.  The vaccine rollout gives us all a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.

This is, however, the best possible time to start making your future travel plans.  Why, because you have the time to do the research, as well as the time to delve into yourself and find those places that mean the most to you.  Don’t just make your plans because you found a bargain.  Be sure that the company you travel with is one that has taken appropriate steps to protect both you and your travel investment.  Check the cancellation and rebooking guidelines.  Give serious consideration to the destination.  Ask yourself if this trip is worth your money and your time, neither of which you can get back once you return home.

Today, many travelers are looking at places where they can experience something personal and where they, by their presence and contribution to the economy of the country and communities they visit, can make a substantial difference.  Others are looking for a place to escape to rejuvenate and refresh their souls.  Still, some are enamored by the call of ancient sites with historical value, while others long to sip the wine from grapes whose vines have grown for 50-100 years. Great places to find information are the Virtuoso Website, travel guides such as Frommers, You Tube videos, Rick Steve’s travel programs, tourism websites for the city or country you wish to visit, as well as your trusted travel advisor.

Whatever it is for you, don’t give up your dream.  Instead, be more intent on taking your trip as soon as possible.  We need to be patient, carefully assess all aspects of travel, and then make plans.  There are some places that are already welcoming tourists, while others remain closed.  In time, this will change.  Don’t be left holding an empty suitcase.  Check the validity of your passport, restock your carry on and toiletries and be ready to go when the coast is clear.  I will be ready too!

Marian Blessing

As a travel consultant for 30 years, Marian experienced first-hand, the positive impact traveling had on her and her clients. A problem she frequently encountered was women wanting to travel but not doing so due to the lack of a travel companion. In search of a solution, Marian created a local community where women could connect, establish friendships, and travel the globe together. The success of Marian’s local group led to the founding of WanderDivas, an online travel community for women.
